Administrative HistoryRobert W. Reid, Professor of Anatomy, published a printed a catalogue of the Anthropological museum in 1912. Details of items added to the museum collections since this date were recorded on paper slips, following the arrangement and referencing system of Reid's catalogue. As these slips accumulated, they became known generically as 'the slip catalogue' and with Professor Reid's 1912 catalogue, continue to serve as finding and reference aid to curators and researchers using the collections.

During Lockhart's curatorship of the museum, three copies of the slip catalogue were typed up on white, lemon and pink paper, respectively: the 'white copies' remained in the museum for reference; 'lemon copies' were retained by Professor Lockhart; and 'pink copies' sent to King's College Library for storage and safe-keeping.
