Administrative History | John Milne, master printer, held the offices of President of both the Aberdeen Association of Printers and the Society of Master Printers of Scotland. He had joined the army at the outbreak of the First World War, though he was technically too young to do so, but on his return, was apprenticed in the printing trade in Aberdeen, where he remained for the rest of his life. An active member of the local community, he served as Convener of the Secondary School Committee and School Governor of Robert Gordon's College, and saw long tenure as both member and assessor of the University Council and Court.
In recognition of this work, he was awarded the Honorary Degree of LL.D by the University of Aberdeen in September 1960. |
