DescriptionMinutes, correspondence and related papers (including manuscript notes in Mary Esslemont's hand), principally regarding consultation amongst Federation members, and with the British Medical Association and the Government, on the National Health Service White Paper, March - November 1945. Includes a copy of the Federation's 'Comments on the Report of the Negotiating Committee' [on the National Health Service], May 1945, and written comments on same, received from the Federation's Local Associations. As the Federation's representative on the Negotiating Committee, Mary Esslemont appears to have played an instrumental role in preparing the it's written response.

Other general matters discussed include venereal disease (the untitled memorandum on 'serious social malaise' described in MS 3179/13/3/4 has been rewritten under the title 'Views of the Medical Women's Federation on Certain Aspects of Social Medicine'), equal pay for women, artificial insemination (general consensus being against), international liaison work, the appointment of Dr Annie Gillie as honorary archivist, and other administrative matters.
