DescriptionMinutes, correspondence and related papers (including manuscript notes in Mary Esslemont's hand), principally regarding consultation amongst Federation members, and with the British Medical Association and the Government, on the National Health Service White Paper, February - October 1944. As a result of war-time travel difficulties, Mary Esslemont represented the Federation's Aberdeen branch at the London meetings.

The effect of the war, in general, is commented upon in the correspondence. In a letter to Dr Beatrix Law, ?Aberdeen, Mabel Rew, Secretary of the Medical Women's Federation, states that

'... The raids are quite bad at times; the barrage is terrific. Last Monday it was the biggest ever since the war started. They are really far more than nuisance raids, and the damage done is very considerable. We are making grants in all parts of London from our American Women's Hospital Fund. The new building for the Marie Curie Hospital (just fully equipped, x-ray and everything) was completely destroyed.'
