Administrative History | The British Supporting Group was founded in 1960 by British Medical Association members interested in furthering the aims of the World Medical Association. Notable figures amongst its founding members, include Sir Clement Price Thomas. The Group was the British counterpart of similar supporting groups established by other national medical associations, notably the American Medical Association.
Although The Group was not an official committee of the B.M.A. (it was an independent voluntary society), the B.M.A. was its parent sponsoring body and provided administrative support and offices for meetings.
Mary Esslemont was elected Chairman/President of The Group for the year 1969/70. |
