Contains affectionate and light-hearted letters, caricatures and cartoons received from his extended family, making fun of family members, friends, social, political and sporting situations (the letters and drawings are mainly signed by 'Alfred' or 'Boss' [Charles' brother, Alfred Esslemont (b c1878)] ). Includes a telegram from Mary Esslemont announcing her father's election success: 'Father in - huge majority', 18 January 1910. |
