The company's principal objective was to act as a tweed distributer for weavers based on the Outer Hebrides, especially, ex-service people who had returned to the Islands after World War II. Operating from premises in Stornoway, the tweed was to be sold to overseas markets, especially America.The company directors were Sir Compton MacKenzie, Edinburgh, the Reverend John MacCormick, Isle of Barra, and Dr Mary Esslemont, Aberdeen.
