| Appraisal | The photographs listed in this series were found scattered throughout the collection, or stored together with bundles of other photographs. Any photographs found amongst files of related papers were left with the relevant file and catalogued together as a unit. In particular, it should be noted that papers and photographs relating to Mary Esslemont's ninetieth birthday celebrations and to her award of the Freedom of the City of Aberdeen, are described together under MS 3179/2/11 and MS 3179/2/12, respectively.
