| Administrative History | Mary Esslemont loved travelling and pursued this interest throughout her lifetime, in both a professional capacity, and privately. She visited the Far East in the 1920s, eastern Europe in the late 1930s, and between 1950 and 1975 travelled widely on all continents, usually as a member of an official delegation or medical party. In 1956 she was one of a party of six British doctors invited into Russia by the Russian government.
Through her work with the United Nations, the Soroptimists, and other international organistations, she made and maintained a wide circle of friends and colleagues in many countries. |
