TitleFrederick W. Davidson: Boer War letters: Part of a letter from Frederick W Davidson to his aunt
Date[1900]
Extent1 item
DescriptionPart of a letter from Frederick W Davidson, in the Boer War, to his aunt, in which he asks a number of questions about life back at home: whether Joan is back at school?; if Clara, Pa and Bess are still in their respective situations?; are people in the old country still willing to maintain the war?; has the war materially affected the prices at home?; is manual labour at a premium, par or discount?; what is the opinion of the Foreign Secretary's policy?; any word of military despotism or any more militia or volunteer bills? His idea is to serve out his five years, taking advantage of any knowledge he can, and finally to anchor down in a civil hospital at home; he describes social activities they undertake such as singing round a campfire [1900].
