DescriptionBundle of marriage contracts, testaments, and other legal papers, including petition on entail to take account of the position of George Keith, late Earl Marischal (the titular 5th Earl of Kintore).:

1. Contract of marriage between William Lord Inverury and Miss Mary Bannerman (2 copies) 17 June 1793

2. Petition by John, Earl of Kintore, to King George II narrating that the petitioner's grandfather, John Earl of Kintore, and the petitioner's father, William Lord Inverury, had by deed of entail left the estate of Kintore to the said John for life and to the said William and his heirs male through a prescribed line of succession which would have included George Keith Earl Marischal. Said deed of entail was subject to certain conditions including the provision that if any potential heir should commit treason then any transfer to him would ipso facto be null and void. George Earl Marischal had been attainted with high treason with effect from 13 November 1715. The petition asks that if the Petitioner and his brother William should both die without male issue then the lands and estate be allowed to pass to all heirs of the entail other than the said George Earl Marischal. 3. Petition in identical terms to item 2, but addressed to Parliament and asking that a bill to the effect petitioned be brought in. Undated.
