| Description | Copy of letters from Archibald Constable to John Forbes, dated 13 January 1807 and 2 February 1807, containing the agreement to publish a new edition of Sir William Forbes's Life of Dr Beattie. It had originally been intended to publish Beattie's life and his collected works together in a second edition, but since demand for the Life is so high it is thought better to proceed straight away with the new edition of the Life alone.
