DescriptionCopy letter from James Smith, Nevis, to Mrs Sally Baillie, saying he received her last letter; mentioning her cough and telling her he is as well as he can be for his age. Letter thanks Baillie for her account on the progress of Smith's grandson and letter talks about the grandson. Smith writes that he disagrees with the policy of changing teachers and urges Baillie to try and keep Smith's grandson with her. Letter relates to his crop supply, which appears to be less than it used to be, and mentions Smith's distress regarding the American privateers. Letter talks about Smith's health, saying that Smith's eyesight has greatly improved. Smith writes that he has ordered, through Captain Watt of the Ship Thames, the castor oil and other things Baillie wanted. Smith writes that he will send this letter under cover through Mrs Bright and writes that he has sent Bright some of his crop supply. Letter mentions that Smith might be unable to correspond regularly, but that he expects regular correspondence from Baillie.
