Date17 October 1772
Extent1 Item
Administrative HistoryLord Kinnoull. Thomas Hay, 8th Earl of Kinnoull [1710-1787] Previously an MP, and Ambassador to Portugal, he had retired to his Pertshire estate in 1762. Brother of Robert Hay Drummond, Archbishop of York
DescriptionReceived letter from Lord Mansfield expressing regard for Beattie. But there is uncertainty for over prospects in Church of England, difficulty in getting anything out of crown, and Lord Mansfield has exhausted interest with Lord Chancellor.
