DescriptionDuchess' sincere friendship for Beattie. As sonn as she received his letter, she showed it to Dundas, who disapproved of any delay in James Hay Beattie's appointment. Proposes to give in Beattie's resignation and instantly appoint James. [Later?] Dundas said everything is fixed, but James Hay Beattie not yet of age. Refers to her friend Professor Ross and his brother in the army in India
