Administrative HistoryWilliam Cameron [1751-1810] attended an MA course from 1766 to 1770, and Beattie likely taught him in his final year. He bacame Minister at Kirknewton, near Edinburgh in 1786. He was intermediary for Hugh Blair in approaching Beattie about new metrical versions for the psalms in 1778, and he later wrote a continuation for the Minstrel that was published posthumously in 1813
DescriptionCannot remember whether ha answered Cameron's letter of 26 March. His tribulations over health and work . Very fatiguing moving house [he moved from Schoolhill to the Upperkirkgate, a distance of about 100 meters, at the beginning of June]. He has obtained a copy of Cameron's sermon from bookseller. Does not know what parts have been objected to, but though there are good people in Edinburgh, there are many who take religion, politics and morality from Hume and Paine rather than from New Testament.
