Administrative HistoryJames Williamson [1743-1813] was a pupil of Beattie at Marischal College, probably around 1759-1763. Listed in the Marischal Fasti as becoming a minister in the Church of Scotland. He was at St Alban's Hall, Oxford, in 1768-1772. He was Fellow of Hertoford College in 1783. He studied Mathematics and wrote a treatise on Euclid. He was a strong admirer of Beattie, who in return advised Williamson on his studies
DescriptionSent diploma for honorary degree of Doctor of Medicine for Williamson's friend John Laurence [DM Marischal College, 1789]. Expenses will be £12-14-0. All Beattie's colleague respect Williamson's recommendation. He hope Williamson will soon have better position. Beattie's health issues. Elements of Moral Science just finished printing, intended as a textbook for his class. Second volume will not be ready for some months.
