Administrative HistoryJames Williamson [1743-1813] was a pupil of Beattie at Marischal College, probably around 1759-1763. Listed in the Marischal Fasti as becoming a minister in the Church of Scotland. He was at St Alban's Hall, Oxford, in 1768-1772. He was Fellow of Hertoford College in 1783. He studied Mathematics and wrote a treatise on Euclid. He was a strong admirer of Beattie, who in return advised Williamson on his studies
DescriptionLetter will be delivered by William Wilson - young man known to him since childhood. Has for several years lived with him as tutor to younger boy [Montagu] and companion to elder [James Hay Beattie]. Bred to medicine by George Skene. Union of Colleges blown up. Marischal fuller than ever.
