DescriptionGives a little history of what has happened since Beattie left Mrs Williamson. Dined in the city on August 30th after leaving Westminster. James Hay Beattie violently ill with disorder in bowels and fever - thought himself dying. Attended by Dr Lettsom. Left on 6th September. Saw Dr Keith at Morpeth who gave James Hay Beattie something that did him good. Rest of journey agreeable including ten days in Edinburgh. After James Hay Beattie's admission ceremony, Beattie sent him to Laing's care at Peterhead, while Beattie was obliged to go to Gordon Castle. Beattie is well , and the young professor should have nothing to do except amuse himself and grow strong. Marischal has the greatest number of students ever - King's not so flourishing.
