Administrative HistoryJames Williamson [1743-1813] was a pupil of Beattie at Marischal College, probably around 1759-1763. Listed in the Marischal Fasti as becoming a minister in the Church of Scotland. He was at St Alban's Hall, Oxford, in 1768-1772. He was Fellow of Hertoford College in 1783. He studied Mathematics and wrote a treatise on Euclid. He was a strong admirer of Beattie, who in return advised Williamson on his studies
DescriptionHe introduces Hugh Fraser, son of Beattie's friend Fraser of Fraserfield, which has studied at Glasgow. Beattie's book has gone to press and he has received the first sheet from the publishers Strahan and Cadell. The title is Dissertations Moral and Critical.
