Administrative HistoryJean Valentine [1726-1793]. She was Beattie's favourite sister. She married John Valentine - the captain of a merchant ship - in 1757. Beattie often stayed with her in Montrose and it was probably on one of these occasions that he met the Montrose literary circle, including Aaron Lithgow and Charles Thomson. Her daughter Margaret became Beattie's housekeeper and carer
DescriptionJamie Valentine should have been exchanged long ago, and will soon be home. He is loath to part with Peggy Valentine. On Mrs Beartie and Montagu.
