Administrative HistoryWilliam Cameron [1751-1810] attended an MA course from 1766 to 1770, and Beattie likely taught him in his final year. He bacame Minister at Kirknewton, near Edinburgh in 1786. He was intermediary for Hugh Blair in approaching Beattie about new metrical versions for the psalms in 1778, and he later wrote a continuation for the Minstrel that was published posthumously in 1813
DescriptionCameron's poem flattering to Beattie but clamour against which has been directed has died down. If any person still has resentments against Beattie, he will not retaliate either in word or deed. Beattie advises Cameron not to publish, but suggests to ask Blacklock.
