Administrative History
David Beattie (1724? - 1803), brother of James Beattie.
Description
Death of 'my poor Annie' on 16 july after a series of distresses for eighteen years [presumably daughter Anne, born 1763]. David Beattie's old age embittered by distress. The heavy bond which Beattie holds weighs heavily with him. David Beattie has also by Beattie's express orders taken charge of 'our sister's sons', principally the youngest James during an apprentiship of a few years [James Duirs, younger son of Beattie's sister Mary]. Cost him at least £30. Glad to hear of Margaret Valentine's marriage [to George Glennie on 4 July 1797]
