Lady (Frances) Mayne, later Lady Newhaven [d. 1801]. Wife of Sir William Mayne. Formerly Frances Allen, the heiress of a considerable estate in Ireland. She kept up a correspondence with Beattie and his wife for some years
Description
Though not all the books have arrived, those for king and Queen have been sent by Dilly. Majendie presented them on the Queen's birthday. They accepted with their usual grace and condescension. Lady's Newhaven concern about about health of all the Beattie's family. Mrs Montagu acquired much vigour from her foreign expedition. Porteus is promeoted Bishop of Chester. Sorry Dilly to distribute books, but Lady Newhaven had not reflected on the space they would require
