Dr John Majendie [1709-1783] Church of England clergyman, Canon of Windsor, Instructor to Queen Charlotte, and tutor to the young princes. Arranged Beattie's audience with the King at Kew in August 1773
Description
Got two copies of The Mistrel elegantly bound from Dilly last Tuesday, and presented them to the King and Queen the following day. Well received. Majendie thanks Beattie for Minstrel, and is re-reading Essay on Truth in fifth edition. Hears subscription likely to succeed
