Custodial HistoryThe papers were found in the rafters of a house in Ballater (Willowbank, Golf Road), Aberdeenshire, by its present owner, Mr. T. W. Henderson. Their presence there may be explained by the fact that the house was occupied at the beginning of the 20th century by a Mr. Riach, the local registrar.
SourceThey were presented to the University Library in September 1970 by Mr. James Robbie, Riverston House, Ballater, on behalf of Mr. Henderson.
DescriptionPapers relating to the construction of the North Deeside turnpike road from Charlestown of Aboyne to Castletown of Braemar, Aberdeenshire. This includes details relating to the rental of tolls and information concerning Ballater Turnpike Road Trust and the cost of building the road.
