DescriptionJournal of correspondence of Rebecca Ogilvie, 1816 - 1825, relative to the claims of the late George Ogilvie on the Estate of Richardson's heirs (60 pages).

Correspondents include Edward Penman (died 1822), Benjamin Moodie (died 1823), Colonel Drayton, James Gairdner and Duncan Campbell - Mrs Ogivlive herself died in March 1824, and the last two letters in 1825 are from her surviving daughters. The matter seems to have been abandoned. On page 46 is set out a table of what was received from the American Commissioners between 1806 and September 1822; the last payment recorded came to £1200, and the total to £3463.0.3. One further payment of £1322 was made in 1824 , as reported in Campbelll's letter of 15 June 1824, not all of which the family received, as legal expenses claimed their share, even in South Carolina where litiigation dragged on quite unavailingly.
