Administrative History | John Arthur Thomson was born in East Lothian in 1861 and educated at the Universities of Edinburgh, Jena and Berlin. He married in 1889 and in 1899 was appointed Regius Professor of Natural History at the University of Aberdeen. He was Gifford Lecturer at St. Andrews in 1915, and published many books on evolution, the history of science, and so on, often in collaboration with Professor Patrick Geddes. He retired in 1930 and died in 1933. |
