Administrative History | Francis Carolus Eeles was born in 1876 and educated privately. He took an interest in ecclesiological and liturgical work, in recognition of which he was awarded an honorary LL.D. by St. Andrews University and a D.Litt. by Lambeth, as well as an OBE in 1938. He wrote copiously on his subjects, which included studies of church bells. He died in 1954.
George William Frederick (1738 - 1820) was the grandson of George II. He succeeded as George III in 1760 and was crowned, along with his new wife Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (1744 -1818), in 1761. His infamous madness first showed itself in 1765, and appeared periodically after that until he was declared unfit to rule in 1811. His son, later George IV, was made Prince Regent until George III's death. |
