DescriptionPrecept of Clare Constat, granted at Edinburgh, by James Erskine of Grange and David Erskine of Dun, Senators of the College of Justice, meantime hereditary proprietors of the Earldom of Mar, by virtue of Charter granted under the Privy Seal of Scotland dated 26 July 1725. The late Francis Gordon of Craig of Auchindoir was grandfather of John gordon, now of Craig Auchindoir, the eldest son of the deceased Francis Gordon of Craig, younger, and his wife Agnes Ogilvie, and was most recently infeft in the lands of Contlach (including Auchinleith and Cairnifarroch, etc.) - marches are given. Seeing John Craig is nearest male heir to his grandfather and is of full age, he is now infeft in these lands. Feu duty given as £20 Sc., 6 geese, 6 capons, 6 cocks and 6 hens, 2 wedders and 48 carriages to Kildrummy Castle, 6 --- grain, 12 days’ labour, etc., valued casualties amounting in all to £15.3.4. Sc. annually. Entry of heirs of £40 Sc. also payable and various services, including attendance at head courts, etc. also listed. Precept of Sasine is included. Signed at Edinburgh by James Erskine and David Erskine and witnessed by George Turnbull and ‘Harie’ Maule younger and elder. On vellum. In Latin.
