DescriptionCollection of newspaper cuttings, magazine illustrations and postcards relating to H. J. C. Grierson but also including obituaries and announcements concerning various persons, book reviews, articles relating to Shetland, and an extract from 'The Periodical'. There is also a page from Alma Mater with a photograph of the Town House in Old Aberdeen and a photograph of the High Street in Old Aberdeen, showing the entrance to King's College, both late 19th century. Newspaper cuttings referring specifically to Grierson include an extract from the Scotsman newspaper, dated 24 April 1935, announcing his intention to retire from the Chair of Rhetoric and English Literature at Edinburgh University and a photograph from the Manchester Guardian after he was awarded an honorary degree from Manchester University.
