| Description | An inscription, on the front cover of the sketchbook, reads "Charles Carmichael July 1888". The sketches are in pencil and watercolour. The subject matter includes architectural sketches of buildings, decorations and motif. A number of landscapes, floor plans and technical drawings are also included. The locations covered in the sketchbook include Milan, Florence, Venice and Torcello Island in Italy. Some of the pages show signs of being coated with a protective solution, which has now yellowed. This sketchbook also contains some loose pages. |
