The manuscript contains reference headings for areas of Scots law, with detailed notes. The first heading is "Of Com[m]issars" ; other headings include "Of the Chancellarie and of Breives and Retours", "Of arbiters and decreits arbitrall"; "Of the defender", "De actionibus civilibus", "Anent the escheit of persons excom[mun]icat", "Of poynding and appryssing", "Of caption Emprissonment and cessio Bonorum", "Of contravention and Lawborrows". Each heading followed by notes and references in Scots and Latin, in most cases with a subheading "Acts of parliament" and a subheading "pract. observat. pat[eatu]r" with jurisprudence. The cases cited are mainly of the late 16th and early 17th century (latest noted 1632).
