DescriptionThe annual reports of the Aberdeen Trades Council cover the period of the late 19th century as well as the early and late 20th century. During this wide span of time there are different aspects the reports focus on. The early reports (1884, 1890-91, 1893-1897, 1899-1907, 1909-1917) are mainly concerned with the workers need. These are reaching from salary over working conditions down to housing. In the 1920's (1925/26) and 1930's (1930/31 and 1935/36) the focus shifts. The council's reports are more focused on politics, especially their sympathies for the Communist Party in Britain and abroad. The new series of annual reports of the late 20th century (1979-current) discuss new issues such as rights for women as well as international politics and education. The later annual reports also display more of the clubs social activities, as well as listing obituaries.

It would appear that no annual reports were published between 1937 and 1978.
