DescriptionTack of teinds granted by James Lyall, parson of Rathven, in favour of James Hay of Rannes. On parchment in old Scots. Granted with the consent of bishops, dean and chapter of the cathedral kirk of Aberdeen [Old]. Respects tack of teind sheaves of Rannes, Connass and over frewchange[? sp.] etc. in the barony of Rathven and parish of the same in Sheriffdom of Banff to be held for the lifetime of the said James Hay or his assigne at his option and for the lifetime of their assigne and 19 years thereafter from Lammas 1598 for yearly payment of £5.6.8 Sc. for Rannes, £3 for F............. and un-deciphered sum for Connass. Signatures appended, but no seals or signs of them, although they are mentioned as being appended [perhaps contemporary copy]. Signed by James Lyall, parson of Rathven and witnesses: Alex. Gordon p......... of Fortrose; James Cruickshank in Rathven; Charles Geddes, schoolmaster of Rathven; Alexander Adamson? Servitor to Mr James [? Hay].
