Description | Letter dated "Charles Street, January 23rd 1762 by Lord Macduff [afterwards Earl of Fife] to "Provost" Dirom [according to later endorsement - but Alexander Dirom was not Provost until 1767-1770 and 1776-1779 (see W. Cramond, Annals of Banff II p.268). Returning articles of roup for the fishings approved in substance by himself and Lord Fife. Ready to give 7 and 9 year leases. He had agreed to subscribe £50 for "our Steeple". He did not like to meddle with the "settling" of ministers into charges but Mr Skene seemed "very agreeable at Banff" and wished the "good people of Keith" much benefit from Anderson". |
