| Description | History of Banff compiles by William Rose Esq. Manuscript is seemingly incomplete as it breaks off at the foot of p.44 about the year 1727. A pencil note on the wrapper dated 3rd September 1835 states that this was then given by P.R. [Patrick Rose] to ?? Alexander Traill P ----- for his perusal.
Actual manuscript is entitled "History of the town and Parish of Banff" and traces the town's origin as far back as the reign of Malcolm Canmore in 1057 with references to Banff in Chartulary of Aberdeen dated 1163. |
