Administrative HistoryJames Gregory had broad artistic and literary interests and from about 1780, he wrote nearly all the Latin epitaphs and dedications which were required in Edinburgh and district. His many friends included Robert Burns, who sent him poems to criticise and considered him the last of the Scottish Latinists.
