Administrative HistoryGeorge Anderson was the nephew of Gilbert Anderson, grandfather to Janet Anderson who married the Reverend John Gregory of Drumoak. Janet Anderson and William Gregory were the parents of David Gregory (1625 - 1720).

It is thought that the scientific genius that the Gregory family possessed came from the Anderson line. Janet Anderson's father David Anderson, was commonly known as "Davie do a' thing" in Aberdeen. He allegedly had constructed the spire of St Nicholas Church and had removed a dangerous submerged rock from the entrance to Aberdeen Harbour by using the tide to move it.
