DescriptionLetter from Professor T. Gordon, King’s College, Aberdeen to George Chalmers, Trade Office, Whitehall, London. Has been promised perusal of a copy of the Murray chartulary by Mr Rose of Monkoffer (Montcoffer) near Banff; the Aberdeen chartulary in the Advocates’ Library which Chalmers is having copied is the bishop’s one but also contains writs of a more general nature; mentions another in King’s College Library respecting things ‘peculiar to the communia’ of the cathedral; gives details of manuscripts sent to Chalmers including papers by, or collected by, James Man and manuscript history of the family of Gordon by Robert Gordon of Straloch with additions by Theodore Gordon and Professor Gordon himself; is sending manuscript history of Scotland purporting to be by Robert Gordon but believed to be by his son James, parson of Rothiemay, excerpts by Man from the Town Council records, and notes by Man on Arthur Johnston’s poems.
