DescriptionTypescript copies of letters written by Lord Napier to Lord Mayo from India concerning military affairs. The content of the letters include: a discussion of 'Loyal Sikhs' and their right to a pension should they be invalided, the nomination of officers for Brigade commands, attacks by frontier tribes and 'Wuzeeries', potential military postings, discipline and length of prison sentences (2 September 1870), possible unrest at Allahabad (September 1870), the geography and climate of India, and various other military matters. Some of the letters are incomplete.
