DescriptionLetter (duplicate) from Francis Grant, Trelawny, Jamaica. Reports on sums received from John Sanders claimed by Gordon which are being remitted and crop prospects on Georgia estate which are favourable in spite of lack of rain. He regrets fall in price of sugar in England. Prefixed to MS 1160/6/59/2: letter, dated 9 December 1788, from Francis Grant, Jamaica to Charles Gordon of Buthlaw at Cairness. Amplifies information given in MS 1160/6/59/1. Enough rain had fallen to fill ponds but more is needed to swell canes. Reports on cargoes shipped to sail after 12 January. Also comments adversely on firm acting for Gordon in London and gives prices obtained locally.
