Description2 letters, one of which is a copy prefixed to an original of a later date, written by John Grant, Spanishtown to Charles Gordon. Reports on settlement reached respecting Gordon’s claims on the estate of George Richards, and purchase of estate of Georgia for about £26000 [possibly Jamaica currency]. Describes estate, stock, negroes, and other matters; will keep it himself if Gordon does not want it, if given time to pay. In second (original) letter, dated 22 September 1778, he acknowledges letter of 6 June. He amplifies points in earlier letter and discusses sums due to Gordon’s aunts. The island is under martial law meantime.
