TitleLetters: Francis Grant to Charles Gordon
Date7 July - 27 August 1781
Extent1 item
DescriptionLetters from Francis Grant, Montego Bay and Georgia to Charles Gordon. He hopes soon to learn after receipt of recent letters of Gordon's safe arrival in London. In first letter which is a copy of original sent by the paquet 'Comet', Grant reports on recent visit to Georgia and acquittal of one of Gordon’s servants. Second letter comments on news of delay in Gordon’s departure and report of storm. An account had been sent earlier of gale damage on estate on 1 August which was not so serious as feared. Negroes have little food of their own and supplies for them have been costly. He asks for funds until cane is ready to harvest and for a supply of salt.
