| Administrative History | Henry Keith Grant was the son of David Grant (1823 - 1886) who was a schoolmaster in various parishes, including Dunnottar, Aberdeenshire and who wrote poetry. Henry Grant was living in London in 1921 when he wrote an account of his father's poems.
David Grant (1823 - 1886) was born in the Highlands of Scotland and initially worked as a herd boy. He attended Aberdeen Grammar School for the winter sessions when he was in his twenties, and eventually passed into Aberdeen University. However, ill health forced him to give up his courses and he became instead a schoolmaster in various parishes, including Dunnottar. |
