Administrative History | The Society was established by 1754 "to raise a fund for relieving the necessities of such of the members as may be reduced to poor circumstances, or disabled from following their usual employment by age or misfortune, and their widows and orphans of a certain description" ('Constitution, Rules and Regulations', 1794). It was wound up in 1864. |
