Administrative HistoryBorn in 1785, Alexander Fraser was educated at Eton and joined the army, where he had a distinguished career, serving at Walcheren, the Peninsula and Waterloo, then in the wars against China. He married Catherine Thurlow in 1815: she was the illegitimate daughter of the 1st Baron Thurlow. He died in 1853.

DescriptionCollection of papers relating to Lord Saltoun including: two letters from Lord Saltoun to the President of the Catch Club and an unknown Scottish peer (the latter includes a newspaper cutting describing a comical incident relating to Lord Saltoun which occured after the Battle of Waterloo), and a series of accounts from various suppliers for wine, medicines, material and other items purchased by Lord Saltoun together with a printed notice from 'Arthur's Club' requesting the payment of his house account.
