| Administrative History | Born in 1785, Alexander Fraser was educated at Eton and joined the army, where he had a distinguished career, serving at Walcheren, the Peninsula and Waterloo, then in the wars against China. He married Catherine Thurlow in 1815: she was the illegitimate daughter of the 1st Baron Thurlow. He died in 1853. |
