| Administrative History | Charles Skene (fl. 1795 - 1839) was descended from the Skenes of Drumbreck, a younger branch of the Skenes of Skene. He graduated MA from Marischal College, Aberdeen, 1795 and MD from Edinburgh, 1799. He was Professor of Medicine at Marischal College, Aberdeen, from 1823 to 1839. He had eight children: his fourth son, Alexander, was killed in the Indian Mutiny with his wife and two children.
Charles Skene (1812 - post 1857) was the second son of Charles Skene (fl. 1795 - 1839). He graduated MA from Marischal College, Aberdeen, 1830, became Captain in the 79th Cameron Highlanders, and afterwards was Superintendent of the Indians in Canada.
Andrew Skene (1814 - 1846) was the third son of Charles Skene. He became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in London in 1835, was assistant surgeon to the 52nd Regiment, and died in Wales in 1846. |
