Administrative HistoryThe papers were compiled in 1871 by Charles James Davidson (1874-1941), advocate, Aberdeen, from a case that lasted for a great part of Davidson's legal career. Born in 1874 in Aberdeen, Davidson was educated at two schools in the city before attending Aberdeen University, from which he graduated MA in 1895 and BL in 1897. He became an advocate and a member of the Society of Advocates in Aberdeen in 1898. He was on the General Council of the University from 1907 to 1930, and was also involved in the Hospital for Sick Children. He was interested in classical studies and amassed an impressive library: on his death in 1941 his sisters donated many of the books to the University library.
SourceThe volume was presented to the library by Davidson's sisters in 1941.
