Administrative History | The son of Gilbert Gerard, minister of Chapel of Garioch, Alexander Gerard graduated MA from Marischal College, Aberdeen, in 1744. In 1752 he was appointed regent of the college, and in 1760 he was made Professor of Divinity and minister of Greyfriars Church, Aberdeen. He was awarded an honorary DD by King's College, Aberdeen, in 1761, and in 1771 was appointed Professor of Divinity at King's College. He was Moderator of the General Assembly in 1764. He was the author of 'Essay on Taste' and other works, and died in 1795 |
